March 17 The Brigit St Brigit Theatre presents Music of the Bards at 7:30 Music of the Bards Rediscovered: Ireland’s Lilt of History in Songs This concert is a celebration of Ireland’s rich lyrical tradition, featuring some of its greatest poets and traditional ballads. Throughout the history of Ireland, singers and lyricists used music as an outlet for personal expression and social commentary, and as a means of sustaining an enduring oral tradition. Singers were not only musicians, but storytellers who sang of love lost, hard times, historic triumphs, comical blunders, and the human condition. This rich tradition survives today, both in song and verse, in the ballads and airs written between the 16th and 20th centuries. Arranged by and featuring Max Stehr (“The Muse” in BSB’s production of An Iliad), along with April Stehr, and Luke Polipnick Tuesday, March 17th at 7:30, and Tuesday, March 24th at 7:30
